| The most significant pop culture examples of teachers I can think of are Jedi Knights, Masters, and Sith Lords from Star Wars. I’m not sure there’s a clearer example of the consequences of taking certain teachings to heart and spurning others. Many things about the Jedi appeal to me. They’re wise, respected peacekeepers and teachers who get to carry lightsabers, what’s not to like? Seriously, take the Jedi Code for example: “There is no emotion; there is peace. There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. There is no passion; there is serenity. There is no death; there is the Force.” Even if one doesn’t hold to all parts of the code, there’s still a deep seated wisdom that can be respected in their views. Jedi, or Sith for that matter, certainly never had problems with multiculturalism. Jedi don’t have to deal with issues like inclusion because only those who can touch the force are taught the Jedi ways, but they probably would endorse tracking. |
